25 WAYS TO TURN STRESS AND ANXIETY INTO PEACE AND JOY
HELLO DEAR SOUL FRIEND,
HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEK AHEAD!
I hope this finds you thriving during these busy, crazy times.
ARE YOU HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING A ZONE OF PEACE?
Anxiety and frustration and a lack of vision for where we are headed is wrecking havoc on us all.
So, I’ve decided to compile some recommendations to help shift your thoughts and feelings into a space of light and harmony when needed.
Did you know that there are separate parts of the brain that activates stress, or provides calm? The trick is to create a switch from one functioning area to the other. So, I put my research and experience focus on that kind of shift.
FIRST. Your intention to switch is required. It takes only a momentary thought decision to set you on the right path for success. Desire – Intention – Action.
SECOND. These are temporary experiences but if you utilize them enough you can achieve a greater level of peace and calm as the brain becomes more accustomed to working in that ‘other’ zone. Then your entire day can become more positive and the effects can be surprisingly wonderful, even if only in small moments you are still on the way to better.
That old saying, “Thoughts are things” is now backed by science with it’s discovery of ‘Quantum Entanglement’. So let’s keep that ‘in mind’.
I’ve discovered that many people deal with stress and even injury by pushing themselves further through working out or overworking. In many situations this over-pushing only makes things worse, even causes more inflammation in the system and that includes brain processing too. Self-Love/ self-care is crucial to our survival, especially now.
During my Ophthalmologist appointment today my Dr. shared the pain he was in when walking. He shared his injury event with me and when my eye exam was over I offered Reiki for his pain. Even though he had no clue what I was talking about, to my shock he accepted and sat calmly while I transmitted Reiki Healing Energy. When finished he stood up and thanked me, took some steps and obviously had less trouble walking. He said the pain had really diminished. This is a perfect example of …Creator puts us where we are meant to be! Who you are and what you bring to the planet is unique and lovely. (3) HUG YOURSELF TODAY!
Also, Please consider your fellow human too. When out in public it’s nice to compliment a stranger when appropriate. I cannot tell you how much that lights people up! It certainly lights me up and I bet it does for you too.

My Holiday Recommendations For Turning Stress & Anxiety Into Peace
I’ve been moved by so many of you dealing with extra stresses and new anxieties. So, I took today to compile this list of suggestions for you. I hope you enjoy them, try some out for the first time and maybe discover a new, happier way to enjoy life.
Play Holiday Music - that speaks to your soul and put it on while driving, while on your lunch break, while cooking or cleaning. (Nothing new here except a reminder to get on it!)
Put on a happy or Funny Film in the background while doing projects.
This film has wonderful memories for me. My grandson and I would watch it together and then get up when the snowman and boy would fly. We would put our arms out and fly with them. When I hear the beautiful song, (original film or symphonic version...there is a soundtrack!), it takes me into flight with them and it’s a wonderful, happy memory. ) The whole film is on YouTube. It’s a beautiful kids film.

Positive Affirmations – remind yourself that you are a flawed human, but a beautiful flawless soul as is everyone else on the planet. There is no perfect, so relax and love yourself for who you are. What is the vision you have for your happiest self? Affirm that today.
Gratitude Journal - can really shift not only your thoughts but your whole body energy. By writing down things that you are grateful for, not only do you connect with the Source of Love, The Divine of Creation, but you reconnect with those joyful memories as they become a full body experience.
Self Reiki - if you are a trained Reiki practitioner you received Self-Reiki training in level 2.
Even those of us who are Reiki Masters, (I do teach at this level annually), we often forget to use this practice on ourselves too! This is a common error for many ‘caregivers’. When the well runs dry no one can replenish it but ourselves. So…. Self-Care is vital.
Nature – take a walk and connect with nature, allow yourself to listen to the sounds, feel the breeze and the temperature, intentionally connect with an area in nature or a tree and allow your energy field to bump against the field of that tree. Give it thanks for the connection. Ask if you may communicate. Give it your sorrows, your pain if it will take it on. Ask first and give thanks when you feel as if you can unload and allow the plant or tree to send your heavy energy into the Earth.
If the weather is too bad to go outside – you can connect with a house plant by touching the leaves and speaking to it as well. It can be very calming for you.

Grounding – you likely know the Earth has a magnetic pulse that it sends through our bodies. We are the ‘Body Electric’, and this charge is something we need to maintain balance and health. Our rubber soled shoes have cut us off from this charge…. a charge given to us by Creation for our wellness.
In Winter it’s more difficult to go barefoot on the soil and get this ‘rapid charge’. I’ve done it and it’s not easy. BUT again, turn to your houseplant. The charge may not be as strong but the connection can be palpable and will be helpful.
Bonus, no need to go barefoot outside when you can simply place your palm down on the earth and get the same charge. It only takes a minute.
Creativity – take a walk and make a temporary Mandala out of things you find in the yard. Take a photo when it’s completed. Leave it behind. It’s the process that counts. Here is one I did in my yard with a wee bit of advance planning as I took some of my crystals out to incorporate them.
Sing, dance ,knit, draw, sew, paint, weave, journal..get your body and creative spirit moving. Don’t plan ahead, just let the whole thing flow.
Water – drink a lot of healthy water. Write the words Peace, or Love, or Joy on your water bottle and notice the shift within you later on. Want to know more about this?

(How dare wikipedia write him up as a Pseudoscientist. Just look at the images of change, and the deep work and study results he performed over his entire career. And my own stunned experience with outcomes of drinking water with Rose Quartz and the word LOVE for two whole days, when I had no expectations at all. Ugh. He’s in good company with Galileo!)
Water Immersion - when in the shower, ask the water to wash over you and release all negative, heavy energy and wash it down drain. Give thanks to the water, and feel it happening.
Pet Cuddling - Needs 0 explanation. :oD
Clean out a closet, cabinet, or drawer. (Sorry, but some people actually enjoy cleaning. I tend to clean really well when I’m under pressure or upset. It goes so much quicker)
Dump the Caffeine - I know it’s not easy. Instead, why not include some Dark Chocolate? Good Chocolate makes you feel better however, it also has some caffeine so pay attention to your body when eating Dark Chocolate, OR drinking Protein Drinks. If you feel hyper instead of uplifted then skip the Dark Chocolate or Protein Drink.
Herbal Teas - Why not turn to a nice, nurturing cup of plant medicine from Mother Earth?
Try these:
Chamomile Tea is your girl for super calm. (She’s a flower so I think of it as a she). Even if you need to take the edge off during the day she’s a good choice, but maybe you ‘ll only need half a cup instead of a whole cup. It can make you drowsy and is good to sip about 20 minutes before bed.
Hibiscus Tea, another flower… She has big antioxidants, fights inflammation - who doesn’t have that right now with stress and post viruses! She also lowers blood pressure, (note if you’re on bp meds don’t overdo it), lowers cholesterol, promotes weight loss, fights off bad bacteria, and supports liver health. (Not to be overly taken in very high doses because it does cleanse the liver). An amazing plant tea!
Ashwagandha Tea, is from a root. It reduces Cortisol levels.. the very thing that stress amplifies!
It is a de-stressor, it also regulates hormones, and sleep. It relaxes while also helping with fatigue.
NOTE: Ashwagandha is contraindicated if you are allergic to nightshades, pregnant, taking sedatives, or have stomach ulcers.
In addition to the home grown and dried herbals in my apothecary I purchase these by Buddha Teas, which I trust, enjoy and rely upon.
I purchase mine at Fresh Thyme Market. You may need to search out your local stores first or order online.
I like using two teas together because plant medicines work synergistically so you get double the benefits. Like today I combined Hibiscus with Ashwagandha for a calming, immune system boost.
ALSO NOTE: Most Herbal Teas and Herbals are Adaptogins. It’s best to use for say… 3 weeks and then take a week off.

Eat Living Foods - think about that for just a minute. Then think about what you have eaten in the past 48 hours. How much of what you ingested to fuel your living body system… was ‘dead food’?
Packaged, canned, processed, dehydrated, the list of dead foods we consume goes on.
It’s no wonder that we in the ‘West’ are in a dramatic health decline.
This body is a magnificent vehicle, which is designed to self-heal and self-regulate as long as the fuel we have been given through Mother Nature is what we use to keep the engine going.
Add more Living Foods to your diet, DAILY. - even if that means simply shoving a leafy green in your mouth as you are running out the door. Do that, and do it multiple times during the day.
OH!, and eating the same diet day in and day out only provides your stomach with the same bacteria to work with. And the stomach bacteria call the shots on the health of ALL of your organs. Each food has a different type of bacteria that supports a specific organ! So, if you only have a diet of pizza and apples all week, you are missing out on a lot of natural, internal support and balance of wellness.
Say ‘No’, set boundaries - please notice if you are doing this with compassion instead of harshness...when you can.
Turn Off Technology - put it aside in a whole other room for One Hour and then…
Do some Breath work, or Yoga, or QiGong.
Qi Gong – can be speedy and simple in the AM to awaken your body and mind and nervous system OR you could even do it in the ladies room at work when you need to recenter and rebalance yourself.

4-7-8 Breath Work - When I have trouble falling asleep at night I drop into the 4-7-8 breathing method and after about 6 times or so I find I drift off to sleep, and sleep well for much of the night.
Note: Count at your normal pace and use the same pace for holding for 7 and exhaling for 8.
